On Thursday, March 11th, 150 restaurants in the Washington metropolitian area will join together to support men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses by contributing a percentage of their sa...les to Food & FriendsFood & Friends is the only nonprofit organization in the Washington area providing daily, home-delivered, specialized meals, groceries and nutrition counseling to individuals in the community who are facing some of life's most difficult challenges. The funds raised through Dining Out for Life allows Food & Friends to continue to provide these critical services at NO COST to the clients.

North of Gaithersburg
The idea behind this event is to minimize our carbon foot print, while eating healthy and happy in the best company of friends and crickets’ courting songs.
In case of rain, we will be sheltered in a spacious barn. There is no rain date.
We will start at 5:30 PM serving hors d’oeuvres and cocktail drinks until 6:30 PM

Dinner at Butler’s orchard on July 11th was a huge success! Many of our guests asked for a repeat performance.
Reserve now Saturday August 22, 2009 for another creative and delicious meal along with a relaxed ambiance.
Rendez-vous for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 5:00 PM under the gazebo, followed by a 3 course candle light dinner.
We make every effort to reduce our carbon foot print for this event by using local ingredients and a minimal amount of energy.
We are putting the final touches on the menu, the price will stay under $70 per person including wines.

We will start at 6:00 PM serving hors d’oeuvres and cocktail drinks until 7:00 PM
White peach Sangria and red strawberry Sangria
Organic red and white wines ( the distributor will be with us to speak about these wines)
Assorted juices, sparkling and still water.
Servers will pass the following hors d’oeuvres:
Ice cold seedless watermelon and heirloom tomato skewers; dipped in virgin olive oil
Grilled chipotle peach barbequed prawns
Anchovies and black olives with onion marmalade crust
Proscuitto Di Parma wrapped Italian bread sticks
At 7:15 PM we will serve the first course
Grilled peaches, arugula, pickling cucumbers and goat cheese salad,
roasted garlic, lemon, tahini dressing
Shots of red and yellow gazpacho
Shallots tomato confits brushettas
At 8:00 PM we will serve the main course
Ginger pesto marinated Pacific salmon brochette
Barbequed smokey Balsamic glazed chicken breast with Pinot gris chive sauce
Local zucchinis filled with bay scallops poached with red beets confetti
Mirepoix of Butler’s Orchard summer vegetables tossed with rosemary oil.
Baskets of local Artisan breads form Bakery de France and olive oil
At 8:45 PM we will serve dessert under the stars
Bourbon nectarine ice cream sundae with genoise crisps and Guinness ginger syrup

Mosaic Cuisine & Cafe is teaming with Butler Orchard to serve a gourmet dinner featuring all local ingredients.
Domenico Sacca, a wine distributor will feature a very interesting selection of unusual Italian wines.
Fresh chilled pea soup drizzled with almond oil and carrot vichyssoise sprinkled with ginger oil, Shallot confit brushetta
Spring lamb 3 ways;
Wrapped in phyllo with pine nuts, Balsamic glaze,
Lamb tagine with dry plums and a hint of cinnamon
Lamb chop crusted with pecans and pomegranate molasses
Roasted and popped corn, asparagus succotash
Glorious berries;
Croustillant of strawberry, verbena custard
Blueberry brioche bread pudding
Coffee or tea
Each course will be accompanied by Italian wines made from unusual grapes such as Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Grechetto and Spoletino.
The price per person is $55
We are offering a vegetarian version of the main course with a zucchini Tagine and for my friends not crazy about lamb we will offer a beef version

Kilshanny Irish band
Kilshanny, named for a tiny crossroad village in Co. Clare, Ireland, specializes in the lively “pure drop” dance music of Ireland.
Their cheerful music will be sure to cause your toes to tap, and may even send you to your feet for a dance around the room!
Kilshanny is a Washington-area-based foursome who perform traditional Irish music.
